We are very proud of our dedicated and skilled team, headed by Chris Tomline. He has a Degree in Early Years Education. Karen Newell is his deputy and she also has a degree in Early Years Education. Kelly Beardsmore is second Deputy and she holds a certificate from the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education (CACHE). All have been with the company for over twenty years and have seen their children grow and flourish in the care of the Green Nursery,
All rooms within the nursery are supervised by Heads of Room who are experienced senior practitioners. These practitioners, along with the management team, are responsible for ensuring that high standards are maintained at all times.
All of our permanent practitioners are fully qualified to a minimum of level 3 in childcare and early years development (NNEB, DCE, BTEC, NVQ3 or equivalent) and maintain current Child Protection/Safeguarding Children training, Food Hygiene certificates and First Aid qualifications.
We also have several apprentices, both male and female, who are working towards this standard. On-going training is provided for all staff for professional development and to maintain the most up-to-date and highest standards possible.
We always have qualified Safeguarding leaders and practitioners either on duty or on call.
We believe that it is vital to create an atmosphere within our Nursery environment that is based on caring, nurturing and warm relationships between our staff and the children in our care and their families. During the day your child will be cared for by dedicated and caring qualified Nursery Practitioners. Your child will be allocated a key worker within their room setting who will be responsible for providing the link between home and nursery, and for ensuring that your child feels secure, happy and valued whilst they are away from home.
We understand how important it is that parents and guardians share all aspects of their child’s day and their progress. Your child’s key worker will liaise closely with you to ensure that you are well informed of your child’s development and experiences whilst at Nursery.
All our nursery staff know that they are effective role models within the setting, and recognise that children are led by example. Good manners, mutual respect and patience are demonstrated at all times during the day throughout our Nursery.
All of our staff members have been approved by both OFSTED Early Years and by the Disclosure Barring Service. Most have been with us for over ten years.
A high Adult to Child ratio is essential in providing good quality early years care. Our staffing levels are always maintained to exceed the legal requirement set by OFSTED.
A staff photo board is displayed in the reception showing the roles and qualifications of each member of staff. We are very proud to have male members of staff in our team which is quite unusual in nursery settings.
We are open from 7.30am to 6.00pm from Monday to Friday throughout the year including school holidays.
We are closed on statutory bank holidays and also during the week between Christmas and New Year.
The Green Nursery is registered with OFSTED.
You can download and read the most recent OFSTED report here, dated 2017 and we are classified as GOOD in all aspects of early years provision.
All of our staff members have been approved by both OFSTED Early Years and by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), previously Criminal Records Bureau. You can read more about our nursery staff here.
